"Gas up your car, And have some fun
At the Elliott County Rooster Run!" - Mike Norris
Have you heard the rumbling about a "Rooster Run in Elliott County" in the near future?
Do you wonder what on earth the Elliott County Rooster Run is?
So, as author, Mike Norris, writes about the fun, here are the details to go with the fun.
The Elliott County Rooster Run is a joint effort among Elliott County Heritage Arts Network, Elliott County Tourism Council, Elliott County Historical Society, and the Laurel Gorge Cultural Heritage Center to showcase the beauty, the history, and the people of Elliott County.
So here are the details of the Elliott County Rooster Run Project:
March 15 , 2025, is the deadline for purchasing roosters for our "spring rooster planting." If you or your business would like to purchase a rooster, please contact Anita Skaggs at Little Sandy Lodge or Vanessa Gaye Maggard at vemm@mrtc.com. This is an excellent opportunity to showcase Elliott County and we hope you join in the fun!
-
It will consist of purchasing a 4 feet tall, then placing the concrete roosters all over Elliott County.
-
Businesses and individuals are encouraged to purchase a rooster for $190 each (this is the actual cost of the rooster) plus the cost of the QR code, in order to tell your story about your Elliott County business or your Elliott County farm or YOU!
-
The rooster will be placed on your property in an area that can be photographed by individuals participating in the Elliott County Rooster Run.
-
A "Rooster Run" brochure will be developed telling about the project and include a map of the roosters' locations or "roosts."
-
Each rooster will have a QR Code to tell the story about the Elliott County business/individual.
-
Visitors can have their picture made by the roosters on the map. When they've visited all the roosters, they can receive a sticker stating they've completed the Elliott County Rooster Run. Every one that has received a sticker will have their name placed in for a drawing be held periodically to win a Rooster Run t-shirt.
-
MRTC will provide an article in their bi-monthly publication, Connection, during the March/April 2025 edition and will do a follow-up article after the roosters are at their locations.
-
Visitors will be able to publish their pics on FB and Instagram established for the Elliott County Rooster Run.
